Published March 20, 2026, 10:11

Employees at Goldair Handling Cyprus Ltd at Larnaca Airport held a work stoppage from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM due to disagreements regarding the reallocation of employees and the impact on their salaries. The company decided not to serve all airlines, resulting in some employees being transferred to other ground handling companies, while others refused the transfer, affecting their wages. The SEK Larnaca had warned about the work stoppage for ten days, without reaching an agreement with the company. According to SEK, the company did not comply with collective agreements during the departure of employees, also affecting the remaining 117 employees. The company has already paid the 30 departing employees, but there are outstanding issues regarding certain allowances. The work stoppage affected two flights. SEK stated that the purpose of the strike is not to inconvenience passengers, but to claim the rights of employees. They demand compliance with collective agreements and the restoration of injustices caused by the reallocation of employees. SEK is awaiting a response from the company and the Mediation Service of the Ministry of Labor to decide the next steps. The company has not issued an official statement regarding the work stoppage.
