Will the CIA and MOSSAD Organize the Kurds Against Tehran?

The idea of using Kurdish organizations against Tehran has resurfaced in the geopolitical discussion of the Middle East. However, as Jonathan Hackett – a specialist in unconventional warfare with years of experience in the Defense Intelligence Service and the US National Security Agency – points out, the scenario is much more complex than it appears at first glance. The assumption that agencies like the CIA and MOSSAD could exploit Kurdish organizations against Tehran is based on a real strategic logic. Unconventional warfare – cooperation between states and non-state armed actors – has been a timeless tool in geopolitical confrontation. However, in the case of the Kurds, the problem is not only operational but deeply political. There is not a unified Kurdish front, but rather a complex mosaic of organizations with different priorities and strategies. Some seek full independence, others promote the idea of a federal or autonomous administration within existing states, while others change goals and strategies depending on political conditions. The case of Iran is particularly interesting. Kurdish organizations operating near the Iraq-Iran border have been in conflict with Tehran for decades and have been repeatedly attacked by Iranian authorities. However, cooperation with them would require careful assessment of their motivations and internal structure. The operation would follow the logic of unconventional warfare, with training, equipment and operational support from external forces. Overall, the possibility of the CIA and MOSSAD organizing the Kurds against Tehran is a complex issue with significant political and operational challenges.
