Veterinary Services: Culling of Animals Continues

The culling of sheep and goats infected with foot-and-mouth disease continues at a rapid pace in Oroklini, with approximately 2,000 animals already culled. In total, an estimated 13,000 animals will be culled, a number that is dynamic due to births and natural deaths. Simultaneously, the excavation of burial pits is progressing with the assistance of the Forestry Department and the National Guard. 33,900 doses of vaccine for cattle have been delivered, and vaccination within the 10-kilometer zone is expected to be completed today. 529,000 doses of vaccine sent by the European Commission are expected at Larnaca Airport today and will be distributed according to the operational plan of the Veterinary Services.
