Ustel Claims EU Presidency by Cyprus is Continued 'Injustice' Against Turkish Cypriots

The 'Prime Minister' of the occupied territories, Unal Ustel, has described the assumption of the EU Presidency by the Republic of Cyprus as a 'continuation of historical injustice' against Turkish Cypriots. He argued that the Republic of Cyprus does not take into account the will of Turkish Cypriots and historical realities, and does not respect the constitution. Mr. Ustel accused the Greek Cypriot side of the failure of negotiations, citing its refusal to recognize the political equality of Turkish Cypriots. He also referred to the 'no' to the Annan Plan and the 'embargoes' against Turkish Cypriots, claiming that EU promises have never been fulfilled. Finally, he criticized the EU's stance of 'rewarding' the Republic of Cyprus, while calling on the EU and the international community to take responsibility for the Cyprus issue.
