US Senators Visit Greenland to Restore Trust

A delegation of US senators visited Greenland with the aim of restoring trust that was shaken by President Trump's statements regarding the potential purchase of the territory. The senators emphasized that, despite Trump's statements, Congress also has a role to play in relations with Greenland. The delegation met with the Greenlandic Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and also visited the US military base in Pituffik. The visit comes after Trump's proposal to consider buying Greenland, which caused concern and reactions. Denmark and Greenland, while sharing US security concerns, have made it clear that sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable. A working group has been formed to discuss US concerns, but restoring trust remains a challenge.
