US Secretary of Defence: Iran Started the War, But We Will Finish It

US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth stated that US strikes against Iran are not aimed at regime change, but that the US will finish the war started by Iran 47 years ago. He accused Tehran of waging war against the United States through attacks and support for terrorist groups, such as Hezbollah and the Revolutionary Guards. Hegseth described the US air operation against Iran as the deadliest, most complex and most expensive in history, highlighting its military scale. He argued that Iran was developing powerful missiles and drones to create a protective shield for its nuclear ambitions. At the same time, the Secretary of Defence stressed that the leadership of Iran has already changed and that the world is better for it. He accused Tehran of refusing to negotiate a “peaceful and logical” agreement with the US, delaying and replenishing its missile stockpiles. According to Hegseth, the US is determining the terms of the war and hopes that the Iranian people will take advantage of the opportunity to get rid of its regime. He stressed that the US is fighting to win and does not waste time or lives.
