Union Welcomes Old Acquaintance

Schalke has officially announced the signing of Bosnian striker Edin Džeko, who returns to Germany after a long and successful career. The 39-year-old Džeko joins on loan from Fiorentina and is expected to strengthen the team's attack, currently leading the second division of the German league. Džeko's decision to play for Schalke was influenced by the presence of his compatriots, Miron Muslic (the team's coach) and Nikola Katić (a defender). Schalke's management hopes that Džeko's experience and ability will contribute to the team's return to the Bundesliga. Džeko has signed a contract until the summer of 2027, with bonuses to be activated at the end of the season for his permanent stay. His acquisition is considered a significant move for Schalke, as it adds quality and leadership to the squad. Džeko had previously played in Greece for Volos in the first half of this season before returning to Germany to once again wear the colors of Schalke.
