Ukrainian Strikes Hit Refinery and Factory in Russia

Ukrainian forces have carried out drone strikes on Russian facilities, including a Lukoil refinery in the Volgograd region and a factory producing high-tech equipment in the Tambov region. A fire also broke out at the Lukoil refinery in the Republic of Komi following a drone attack. Ukrainian authorities also announced a strike on a missile depot in the Volgograd region with Flamingo missiles. These attacks represent an escalation of Ukrainian strategy, which had been limited in January due to peace negotiations. This escalation comes in response to continued Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which have caused power outages and heating disruptions during the winter. President Zelenskyy announced that Russian energy facilities are now a legitimate target for Ukrainian attacks. This decision marks a change in Ukrainian strategy and an attempt to put pressure on Russia. Meanwhile, Russian attacks on Ukraine continue, with two deaths and thousands of buildings without heating in Kyiv and Odesa. In the city of Lozova, two civilians were killed and six injured by Russian missiles and drones. Russian attacks have left over 100,000 households without power in Kyiv.
