Ukraine Accuses Trump of Blocking Peace Deal with Russia: 'Putin is Ready for Agreement'

US President Donald Trump accused Ukraine of hindering the achievement of a peace agreement with Russia, stating that Vladimir Putin is ready to end the nearly four-year invasion, while Volodymyr Zelenskyy appears more hesitant. These statements are in direct conflict with the position of Washington's European allies. In an exclusive interview with Reuters from the Oval Office, Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to end the nearly four-year invasion of Ukraine, unlike Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who – he said – appears more reluctant. He stated that the talks focused on security guarantees for a post-war Ukraine, with a possible concession of territories in eastern Donbas as part of a potential agreement. Trump also said he was unaware of an upcoming trip by US special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to Moscow. Referring to a possible meeting with Zelenskyy at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the US president said he would be willing to meet him, but no plans have been finalized. Trump argued that Zelenskyy is struggling to move forward with negotiations, reiterating that the Ukrainian leader is not willing to cede territories to Russia.
