UK: Government Source Denies Agreement to Handover Chagos to Mauritius

The UK has denied that it has halted the process of ratifying the agreement to transfer sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius, despite earlier statements by Foreign Office Minister Hamish Falconer. The agreement also concerns Diego Garcia Island, which hosts a US-UK military base. A government source stated that talks with the United States are ongoing.
