Two Businessmen Held in Custody – Met with Complainant in Shooting Incident

Two businessmen, aged 47 and 43, have been placed under a four-day detention order by the Larnaca District Court. The detention is related to the investigation of potential interference in a police investigation concerning a brawl and shooting that took place outside the Larnaca ADE last Saturday. Simultaneously, three security guards working for the businessmen were also arrested for lacking the necessary permits. They were released after being formally charged. A vehicle used by one of the guards was also seized. According to the Police, the businessmen had a meeting with one of the complainants at a hotel in Oroklini, where approximately 20 individuals allegedly involved in the brawl were also present. During the meeting, the businessmen reportedly assured the complainant that they were not involved in the case of the 48-year-old who is hospitalized with severe head injuries. The complainant told the Police that a foreigner, currently not in Cyprus, is behind the threats and demands for money. The businessmen's lawyer, Antonis Dimitriou, did not object to the detention, but emphasized that his clients are cooperating with the authorities. Police found a large sum of money and bank checks at the 47-year-old businessman's office. The case is ongoing, and the Police continue their investigations to clarify all aspects of the brawl and identify all those involved.
