Turkish Cypriot Claims Knowledge of 1963 Massacre Based on Deceased Witness

A Turkish Cypriot businessman, Yusuf Kisa, claims he received testimony from a now-deceased eyewitness regarding the murder of approximately 80 Greek Cypriots around 1963. According to the testimony, the victims were “decapitated and thrown into a well.” Kisa states that the witness revealed the name of the village where the incident occurred and identified his uncle as one of the perpetrators. The witness, born in 1942, settled in London after the event and requested that Kisa only publish the story after his death. Kisa, who met the witness in London and visited him in Cyprus, says he is fulfilling the witness's wish by publishing the story now. The identity of the witness and the verification of the claims remain unknown.
