Turkey Denies Reports of S-400 Deployment to Somalia

Ankara has categorically denied reports that it plans to send Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Somalia. Turkish sources at the Ministry of Defense stressed that cooperation with Somalia is limited to strengthening local armed forces and combating terrorism, within the framework of existing bilateral agreements. Specifically, they stated that the activities carried out in Somalia aim to support the organization of the country's armed forces and to combat terrorism, as well as to protect Somalia's economic resources and Turkey's national interests. The S-400, according to Ankara, have been acquired for the operational needs of the Turkish armed forces and are ready for use. Turkish sources criticized the media and social networks for spreading “speculation” and urged caution towards unconfirmed claims. They stressed that it is important not to give credence to information that does not come from official statements.
