Trump Invites Greece and Cyprus to Join Gaza Peace Council

Donald Trump has invited Greece and Cyprus to participate in the “Peace Council” that will oversee the interim governance of Gaza. The council will consist of 25 countries, including those that attended the Sharm El Sheikh ceremony, such as France, Canada, and Gulf countries. The participation of Greece and Cyprus highlights their increased international influence and role in developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. The council is part of a broader peace plan for Gaza, based on a UN Security Council resolution, and will be supported by an Executive Committee and a Palestinian national technocratic committee. Former Bulgarian diplomat N. Mladenov has been appointed as High Representative to coordinate the bodies.
