Trade Union Calls for Improved Living Standards for Contract Workers

PASYEK-PEO is participating in the dialogue for the renewal of the Collective Agreement for Government Hourly Paid Employees for the period 2025-2027, with the main demand being a substantial improvement in the living standards of workers. The trade union has already submitted a comprehensive package of requests to the Ministry of Finance and the TDDPA, including wage increases, the abolition of the 10% reduction for new hires, general increases, and a minimum increase amount proportional to the public sector. PASYEK-PEO highlights the contrast between economic growth and the difficulties faced by workers in their daily lives, calling for growth to translate into prosperity for all. It emphasizes that the financial situation of hourly paid workers remains dire due to inflation and the increased cost of living. According to PASYEK-PEO, approximately 30% of hourly paid employees receive earnings of up to €1,500, demonstrating the need for generous adjustments from the state. The trade union states that it is approaching the dialogue in a constructive spirit but expects the Ministry of Finance to demonstrate social sensitivity. PASYEK-PEO emphasizes that the Collective Agreement must ensure dignity at work and in life for employees and that the issue is not subject to negotiation or compromise. The trade union seeks to restore the purchasing power of workers and recognize their contribution in difficult conditions.
