Times: UK Could Withdraw Troops from Cyprus, Estonia for Ukraine?

According to a report in The Times, the United Kingdom faces difficulties in deploying a force of 5,000 troops to Ukraine, even if a peace agreement with Russia is reached. Senior military sources report that such a deployment would require the redeployment of forces from Estonia and Cyprus. President Zelensky has stated that the UK and France have committed to sending approximately 5,000 troops each. However, the UK Ministry of Defence believes the army does not have the necessary operational capability for such a large mission. Maintaining a force of 5,000 troops in Ukraine would require a total of around 20,000 personnel, which would require weakening the UK's presence in the Baltic states or Cyprus. Cyprus is important due to its military infrastructure, such as RAF Akrotiri.
