These Are the Cars That Are Hardest to Steal - The Reason Thieves Avoid Them

Owners of electric cars can sleep a little easier than others, as for various reasons thieves avoid them. Despite the increase in car thefts, electric cars are the least targeted, accounting for only 3% of stolen cars in France in 2023, compared to 54% for gasoline cars and 36% for hybrids. The reasons for this are the presence of advanced security systems, such as Tesla's Sentry Mode, complex security software, ease of tracking via GPS, a limited market for spare parts, and the difficulty of disassembly. These features make electric cars less attractive to thieves, as they reduce potential profits and increase risk. Additionally, the lack of charging infrastructure in some regions, such as Africa and the Middle East, makes it difficult to resell stolen electric cars. The expertise required to disconnect mechanical parts, such as the battery, also discourages thieves. Overall, electric cars have a combination of factors that make them more difficult to steal, offering their owners a greater sense of security.
