Syrian Kurdish forces, led by Mazloum Abdi, have agreed to a ceasefire with Damascus, following advances by Syrian government troops and the capture of areas under Kurdish control. The agreement involves the withdrawal of Kurdish forces from the Deir Ezzour and Raqqa regions to Hasaka, in an effort to avoid a civil war. Abdi is expected to meet with President Ahmed al-Assad to discuss the details of the deal. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had previously received support from the United States.
