Sweeping Checks in Limassol: Raids on Barber Shops and Mini Markets – What Authorities Found

Limassol police conducted targeted checks on barber shops and mini markets to enforce labor and tax laws. During the checks, several violations were found, including illegal operation of establishments, undeclared labor, and illegal employment of foreigners. Two Syrian nationals were arrested for illegal employment, and fines were imposed. The checks were carried out on 20 establishments on various streets in Limassol, including Agias Phylaxeos, Independence, and Democratias. It was found that 8 stores were operating without a license, while others had violations related to the sale of tobacco products. The checks also concerned the employment of foreigners, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the reporting of two cases of illegal employment. A total of about 50 foreign workers were investigated, without further violations being found. Police announced that checks will be intensified in the future to protect workers and combat illegality.
