Supreme Court Grants Leave to Challenge Casino Search Warrant in Torture Video Case

The Supreme Court of Cyprus granted leave to challenge a search warrant issued at a casino in the province of Larnaca, in connection with a case involving videos depicting torture. The application concerns videos found on a mobile phone showing individuals being held against their will and subjected to physical violence. The applicant, the casino manager, argues that there was insufficient evidence linking the premises to the offenses. The Supreme Court will examine whether the search warrant was issued lawfully and whether there was sufficient justification for the search. The case concerns offenses such as grievous bodily harm, assaults, possession of offensive weapons and threats, allegedly committed in 2025.
