Strong Solar Storm Hits Earth. Risks to Networks and Satellites

A strong solar storm is hitting Earth, potentially causing problems with power grids and satellites. The storm, which is rated level 4 on a five-level scale, is the strongest since 2003. Simultaneously, it is expected to cause a rare and spectacular aurora borealis in areas where the phenomenon is unusual, such as in some parts of the US. The solar storm was caused by a strong solar flare and may affect high-frequency communications and cause anomalies in satellite operations. A similar storm in 2023 caused power outages in Sweden and damage to infrastructure in South Africa.
