Stavros Landsias' 'Echoes' at the Inaugural Gala of the Cypriot Presidency in Brussels

Cypriot composer Stavros Landsias presented his works at the inaugural gala of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in Brussels. During the event, Landsias spoke about his compositions, his personal memories, and the experiences that inspired them, offering the audience a deeper understanding of his music. He particularly referred to the works 'The Scent' and 'Beyond', explaining their inspiration. 'The Scent' was inspired by a traditional Cypriot song about jasmine, while 'Beyond' is an emotionally charged work inspired by the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 and the Pentadaktylos mountain range. Landsias expressed his emotion for the collaboration of his music with the visual art of his sister, Stella Landsias, presenting her painting entitled 'The Mountain They Want to Forget'. He believed that music and painting complement each other, expressing the same memory and the same need not to forget the past. Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, emphasized the role of culture in the unity of Europe, stating that if she had to start everything from the beginning, she would start with culture. The Cypriot Presidency aims to present Cyprus as an island at the crossroads of three continents, a meeting point of peoples and cultures.
