Social Welfare Ministry Denies Claims of Blind Benefit Cuts

The Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare has denied reports of a cut to benefits for blind individuals, emphasizing that the allowance continues as normal and applications are being processed. It confirmed that 1,995 beneficiaries receive €382 monthly, with 88 new beneficiaries approved since September. The Deputy Ministry criticized the Pan-Cypriot Organization of the Blind for spreading misinformation. Furthermore, it was reported that the pending bill on people with disabilities ensures the continuation of the allowance and provides for the possibility of increasing it in the future, as well as expanding benefits.
