Σε μία απόφαση-σοκ χωρίς προηγούμενο, η Ομοσπονδία Ποδοσφαίρου της Αφρικής (CAF) ανακοίνωσε ότι ο τίτλος του Κυπέλλου Εθνών Αφρικής 2025 περνάει στο Μαρόκο. Η απόφαση βασίστηκε στο πόρισμα πως οι ποδοσφαιριστές της Σενεγάλης παραβίασαν σειρά κανονισμών στον περιβόητο τελικό, οδηγώντας την ομοσπονδία στην πρωτοφανή αυτή ενέργεια δύο μήνες μετά τη διεξαγωγή του αγώνα.
Παρά τη σοβαρότητα της ανακοίνωσης, οι παίκτες της Σενεγάλης δείχνουν να μην την αποδέχονται ούτε στο ελάχιστο. Η στάση τους μοιάζει να αποτελεί μια μορφή… ειρωνικής διαμαρτυρίας, θέλοντας να δείξουν ότι για τους ίδιους ο πραγματικός νικητής είναι αυτός που κέρδισε στο γήπεδο.Το ζήτημα έχει ήδη προκαλέσει έντονες αντιδράσεις σε ολόκληρη την Αφρική, με τη συζήτηση να φουντώνει γύρω από το κατά πόσο μια τέτοια απόφαση μπορεί να αλλάξει την ιστορία ενός τελικού τόσο καιρό μετά.
