Second Patriot System Deployed in Turkey to Counter Ballistic Threats

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced the activation of a second Patriot missile battery in Adana, following a NATO order, to strengthen Turkey’s air defense against potential ballistic threats following the escalation of tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. The new battery complements the Spanish Patriot system stationed at Incirlik since 2015. Turkey has a multi-layered air defense system, including the Kurecik radar, Aegis ships, and Patriot batteries. This deployment became necessary after NATO intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles, with debris falling in rural areas of Turkey. Turkey maintains diplomatic contacts with Iran and is strengthening its defenses around strategic facilities.
