Scaffolding Collapse at Construction Site in Limassol

A section of scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Limassol during concrete pouring operations. The Association of Civil Engineers of Cyprus (SPOLEMK) reported that the incident occurred at a building in the Limassol district, resulting in exposed reinforcement and extensive material damage to the structural system. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. SPOLEMK states that the incident may be due to inadequate sizing or support of the scaffolding. It recalls the criticality of temporary structures and the need for study with the same care as permanent structural elements. The Association emphasizes the importance of proper design, installation, supervision, and compliance with safety and health regulations. The Labour Inspection Department is investigating the exact causes of the incident. SPOLEMK reiterates that ensuring structural adequacy and safety at construction sites is a collective responsibility of all involved. The goal is to create a safe working environment for all workers.
