Road Closures in Nicosia for Marathon Race

Several roads in Nicosia will be closed on Sunday, January 18, 2026, for approximately seven hours, from 5:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to facilitate the safe conduct of charity marathon races. Traffic will be diverted through adjacent streets, and the Police will be present to assist the public and manage traffic flow. The roads to be closed include Rigainis Street, Pafou Street, Mikis Theodorakis Street, Markou Drakou Square, Kiniras Street, Nehru Street, Lord Byron Street, sections of Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue, Prokopiou Street and Archangel Michael Avenue, Egypt Street, sections of Omorou Avenue, Stasinou Avenue, Archbishop Makarios B' Square, Constantinou Palaiologou Street, Nikephorou Fokas Street, Athens Street, Vassileos Georgiou B' Street, Spyrou Christodoulou Street, Christakis Christofidis Street, Aigaios Street, Archbishop Makarios III Street (in Palouriotissa), Agios Ilarionos Street, the Kantaras and Ilarionos roundabout (in Palouriotissa), Synergasias Street, Markou Botsari Street, and the turnaround at the Agios Ilarionos and Christou Samara roundabout. One lane of traffic will remain closed on certain sections of Georgiou Griva Digeni Avenue, Omorou Avenue, and Stasinou Avenue. The marathon races include routes of varying distances, and temporary road signs will help ensure the smooth running of the event and the safety of participants and passing drivers.
