Researchers Create 'Time Capsules' for Cells

Researchers have developed a technology called TimeVaults, which allows for the storage of memories from previous cell activity. These cellular storage units can help reveal important information about resistance to cancer drugs, stem cell biology, and how past events influence the future function of a cell. TimeVaults are constructed from structures called vaults and store mRNA molecules, which are products of gene transcription. Researchers believe this technology will allow the observation of aspects of cell biology that were previously inaccessible.
