Renowned Cypriot Chef Andreas Mavrommatis Passes Away

Renowned Cypriot chef Andreas Mavrommatis passed away at the age of 66 after a heart attack while driving in Paris. Mavrommatis was co-owner of the Maison Mavrommátis restaurant chain and was awarded a Michelin star. He was a pioneer in French gastronomy, promoting Cypriot cuisine internationally. Born in Agios Ioannis Pitsilias, he began his career in Paris in 1977, developing a small grocery store into a successful chain of restaurants and delicatessen shops. His chain today includes 4 restaurants and 9 stores in Paris, Nice, and Marseille, as well as in Cyprus. Mavrommatis's work was recognized by prominent figures and politicians in France.
