Record Participation in the Bank of Cyprus Limassol Marathon

The Bank of Cyprus Limassol Marathon achieved record participation, with over 8,000 runners taking part, confirming its position as the largest sporting event in the capital. Runners from all over the world, including countries such as Alaska, Colombia, Japan, Australia, and Tanzania, participated in the event, which was branded “The Capital Race”. Particular interest was shown in the Cablenet Corporate 5km Race, with the participation of over 100 companies. This year's event marked the first appearance of the new organizing team, which has set a goal of substantially upgrading the race. The Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, and the Municipal Council worked to create the foundations for the future development of the Marathon. The Nicosia Marathon was held under the patronage of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, strengthening its institutional and European character. At the same time, it maintained its charitable character, with the Cyprus Anticancer Association being the official charity organization of the event. The Mayor of Nicosia expressed his enthusiasm for the success of the Marathon, emphasizing that Nicosia came alive and was filled with energy and positive messages. He congratulated all the runners for their participation and stressed the importance of unity, effort, and fair play.
