Questions Raised Over Measures and Price Increases: Heating Oil and LPG Excluded

The president of the Consumers Association, Marios Drousiotis, raised questions regarding the exclusion of heating oil from the measures announced by President Christodoulides to address the effects of the Middle East conflict. He inquired whether heating oil was not included in the measures or simply not mentioned in the President's speech, given the significant consumption even during the summer months. Mr. Drousiotis warned of potential fuel price increases in the next two weeks and pointed out that LPG also remains outside the measures, despite its price increase. He predicted an increase in electricity prices from April and a significant increase during the summer months. Additionally, he expressed doubts about the zero VAT rate on meat, poultry, and fish, asking whether this includes processed products in these categories (frozen, canned, etc.). Mr. Drousiotis emphasized the need for clarity and comprehensiveness of the measures to be effective in addressing the rising cost of living.
