PSE: “Cyprus is in Danger” – Allegations of Base Involvement and Call for Demonstration

The Pan-Cypriot Peace Council (PSE) expressed strong concerns about the escalating tensions in the Middle East, condemning the attacks by Israel and the US on Iran. The PSE believes the situation is leading to a generalized war with unpredictable consequences and blames the US and Israel. Particular emphasis is placed on criticism of the presence of British bases in Cyprus, describing them as an “anachronistic relic of colonialism” and a “permanent source of danger.” The PSE calls for the closure of the bases and urges the Republic of Cyprus to condemn the attacks on Iran and demand that the United Kingdom not involve Cyprus in the conflict. The PSE expresses fears that Cyprus may become a target of retaliation due to the presence of British bases and calls on the government to take measures to ensure the safety of Cypriot citizens in the Middle East. The organization calls for mass participation in the anti-war demonstration to be held in Limassol on March 3, 2026, with the slogans “Bases Out” and “No to War.”
