Price Increases in Fresh Vegetables, Sugar, and Fish in December – Price Observatory Report

The Price Observatory of the Consumer Protection Service recorded significant price increases and decreases in basic products during December. Increases were observed in fresh vegetables (23%), sugar (9.6%), fresh fish and seafood (8.1%), frozen fish (7.2%), infant milk (2.2%), and processed meats (2.2%). Conversely, decreases were noted in flour (-9.3%), frozen shellfish/mollusks (-9.3%), oil (-8.6%), baby food (-4.7%), juices (-3.7%), rice (-3.3%), and fresh meat (-3.2%). The annual inflation rate remains negative, with deflation rates ranging from -0.3% to -0.9% during the second half of 2025. Furthermore, the Service observes fluctuations in the number of common products in the 'e-kalathi' of major supermarkets.
