President Christodoulides Proposes 'Coalition of the Willing' for De-escalation in Middle East

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, proposed the creation of a “coalition of the willing” to find a solution to the crisis in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for immediate de-escalation and a ceasefire through diplomatic efforts. Speaking on Bloomberg TV, he mentioned the need for coordination between the EU, countries in the region, and the United States. President Christodoulides also referred to relations with the United Kingdom and the British Bases, highlighting the need for dialogue. Regarding NATO membership, he stated that Cyprus would be ready, but it is not feasible under current conditions. He stressed that Cyprus remains a stable hub for business and investment in the region and that its experience in the region is valuable to the EU. He expressed satisfaction with the solidarity of the EU and proposed giving substance to Article 42.7 of the EU Treaty.
