President Nikos Christodoulides presented the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU to the European Parliament, emphasizing that unity is Europe's greatest strength. The Presidency's program is structured around five pillars, with a focus on Autonomy through Security, Defence and Preparedness, taking into account Cyprus's unique position as the last member state under occupation. President Christodoulides stated that Ukraine is fighting for a fundamental principle – the non-change of borders by force – and stressed the need to strengthen European security architecture, including the Arctic. He also highlighted the importance of competitiveness and EU enlargement, considering the latter a powerful geopolitical tool for reuniting Europe and promoting peace, democracy and stability. The Cypriot Presidency aims for a Europe that is more Autonomous and Open to the World.
