Political will needed to resume Cyprus talks from where they left off says President

The President added that they would also discuss CBMs and expressed the hope for positive developments
We need political will to resume the talks from where they left off at Crans Montana in 2017 President Nikos Christodoulides said Thursday, in statements before his meeting in Nicosia with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman in the presence of UNSG’s personal envoy Maria Angela Holguin.
He noted that he will table specific ideas and suggestions at the meeting describing it as a particularly important one.
He referred to statements made by the Turkish Cypriot leader about UNSC resolutions, noting that the foundation is there, “what we need is the political will to resume the talks from where they left off at Crans Montana”.
The President added that they would also discuss CBMs and expressed the hope for positive developments.
Responding to a question about whether he will raise the issue of the missing persons, given the prolonged impasse, the President said that there is a deadlock, adding that he is going to the meeting with specific ideas and suggestions.
He added that the goal is to have practical progress on this humanitarian issue.
