Police Schedules to Change - “You Can’t Get Rich from the Police” Says Chief

The Chief of Police, Themistos Arnautis, announced changes to police schedules, aiming to increase police presence on the streets and better utilize personnel. Specifically, the duration of shifts will be reduced from 12 to 11 hours, while overtime and night shifts will be limited. These changes will be applied uniformly, including office hours, after an agreement with the unions. Mr. Arnautis emphasized that there is no intention to reduce salaries, despite the fact that many police officers have based their financial situation on overtime. He also stated categorically that the police force is not a place to get rich. These changes are part of a broader plan to modernize the Cyprus Police.
