Police Officer Detained Over Attack on Speed Camera Van Driver

A special constable is being held for two days following a court order to facilitate investigations into an attack on a speed camera van driver. The incident occurred on March 12th on the Paphos – Limassol highway, where three individuals attacked the driver, spraying him in the face and damaging the vehicle. The constable has been suspended by order of the Chief of Police. According to the police, the driver was in a parking area near the Kouklia exit when the three individuals approached him. One of them asked to speak with him, and after the driver opened the window, he was attacked with spray. The other two perpetrators caused damage to the vehicle. The driver went to the local police station and filed a complaint. The case is being investigated by the Paphos TAE. A 37-year-old man has already been arrested in connection with the same case. The police continue their investigations to locate the remaining individuals involved in the incident, while all possible circumstances leading to the attack are being examined.
