Planet in Overdrive - The Last 11 Years Were the Warmest on Record

The planet is on a trajectory of overheating, with the last 11 years (2015-2025) being the warmest on record. A new report from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) confirms that concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and ocean temperatures have reached record levels. Although last year was slightly cooler than the previous one, it remains one of the warmest on record. The report also states that the amount of sea ice in Antarctica and the Arctic is among the lowest recorded since 1979. The speed at which temperatures are rising and ice is melting is alarming, indicating entry into a new era with significantly higher temperatures. The report includes, for the first time, a measure of heat accumulation on Earth, the Earth's Energy Imbalance (EEI) index, which reached its highest level since 1960.
