The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, was briefed on progress in three key areas: pension reform, energy policy, and the water issue. Regarding pension reform, the goals were discussed, namely ensuring the adequacy and increase of pensions, as well as the sustainability of the Fund. Concerning the water issue, due to the prolonged drought, he was informed about the actions being taken for desalination units, the use of recycled water, and demand management measures. The energy meeting updated the President on the progress of work at the Vasiliko terminal and other efforts aimed at reducing energy costs for households and businesses, as well as ensuring electricity supply. Progress in the commercial exploitation of natural gas deposits in the Cypriot EEZ was also examined. Furthermore, the upcoming visit of Ministers to the UAE in January was discussed, with the aim of continuing discussions on cooperation in the implementation of important energy and water projects. The government seeks to address the challenges facing Cyprus in these three areas, with an emphasis on sustainability and securing resources for the future.
