Patient Organizations and People with Disabilities are Not Lobbyists

Patient organizations and people with disabilities should not be considered lobbyists, as their actions aim to promote the rights of their members and not to serve economic interests. According to current legislation, these organizations are required to register in the lobbyist registry and inform the Anti-Corruption Authority about their meetings with officials. MP Aristos Damianos has submitted a bill to exclude patient and disability organizations from the provisions of the lobbying law, which is expected to receive broad support from political parties. This amendment will facilitate the pursuit of their members’ rights without subjecting them to unnecessary restrictions.
