Passenger Plane Lands in the Sea in Somalia – All Passengers Safe

A Starsky Aviation Fokker 50 passenger plane made an emergency landing in the shallow waters of the Indian Ocean near Mogadishu, Somalia. The aircraft, en route from Mogadishu to Galkayo, experienced a technical issue shortly after takeoff, prompting the pilot to return to the airport. During the landing, the plane overran the runway and ended up in the sea. Fortunately, all 55 people on board (50 passengers and 5 crew members) are safe and sound, with no serious injuries reported. Videos circulating on social media show the aircraft with visible damage and passengers evacuating. Forces from the African Union and the UN assisted in the rescue operations, and the Somali Minister of Transport was also present at the scene. Starsky Aviation expressed relief at the safe outcome and reiterated that the pilot's composure and swift reaction were crucial. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the technical malfunction that led to the emergency landing. The company is committed to fully cooperating with the authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident and prevent similar accidents in the future.
