Parliamentary Committee Urges Legislation on Property Sales to Foreigners

The Parliamentary Committee on Interior Affairs is calling for the passage of legislation to regulate the sale of properties to foreigners before the dissolution of Parliament. This initiative comes from AKEL, which has prepared a comprehensive bill on the matter. The goal is to prevent the sale of large tracts of land to foreign hands, which is considered dangerous for Cyprus, especially the occupied territory. At the same time, it is acknowledged that the uncontrolled purchase of properties by foreigners has contributed to rising prices and the creation of a 'bubble' in the market. The committee seeks consensus and cooperation with the government for the timely passage of legislation, while the consolidation of texts from various parties is expected to create a comprehensive bill.
