Parliament Approves Insurance Coverage for Military Personnel

The Parliament unanimously approved an amendment to regulations establishing insurance coverage for members of the National Guard who are entitled to an allowance, in the event of death or permanent total disability while performing their duties. The coverage amount is €115,000 lump sum for heirs, plus €95,000 per dependent. In the event of disability, the amount is also €115,000 lump sum, plus €95,000 per dependent. The amounts are not subject to tax or other charges and will be offset against any compensation awarded by a court. The amendment concerns members of the military performing dangerous tasks, and the allowances were determined by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
