Over 5,000 Cypriot Children Without Substitute Teachers Today

In Cyprus, the President of POED, Myria Vasiliou, expressed strong concern over the lack of substitute teachers in many schools. According to her, today over 5,000 primary school children were left without a teacher due to the large number of unavailable substitutes. POED accuses the Ministry of Education of indifference and inaction, as promises to solve the problem have not been fulfilled. The situation is exacerbated by the high number of unassigned substitutes recorded daily, resulting in schools operating below capacity and resorting to emergency measures. POED questions why voices that previously criticized teacher strikes are now silent while the quality of education is being undermined.
