Outrage in Parliament Over Turtle Abuse in Chloraka: Penalties Range from Reprimand to Dismissal

The Parliamentary Committee on the Environment discussed the incident of the abuse of a dead sea turtle in Chloraka, which sparked outrage and reactions. The video showing four workers kicking and playing with the animal highlighted a problem of education and policing. The community leader of Chloraka informed the Committee that the individuals involved are employees of the Paphos Community Complex, and that a disciplinary investigation will be conducted. The penalties range from reprimand to dismissal. The Police have completed their investigation and the file has been sent to the Legal Service with the charge of “public nuisance”. It was confirmed that the turtle had been dead for at least 48 hours before the abuse.
