OSAK: Patient Lost 'Chance of a Lifetime' Due to Delayed Air Ambulance

The Cyprus Federation of Patient Associations (OSAK) expresses strong concern and sadness over an incident where a patient lost a 'chance of a lifetime' due to the inability to provide timely air ambulance transport. OSAK emphasizes that access to emergency medical care should not depend on finding solutions after the fact, but should be ensured through permanent mechanisms. It highlights the long-standing inaction in developing pre-hospital care and the need for adequate patient transport mechanisms, given the island nature of Cyprus. OSAK calls on the Ministry of Health to investigate the incident and inform the public about the measures it will take, emphasizing that the system's readiness should not be tested at the expense of patients.
