Occupied Territories: Unions Threaten Strike Over ATA

Trade unions in the occupied territories are threatening an indefinite general strike if the bill regarding the “cost of living allowance” (ATA) is passed as is. The ATA payment will be made in two installments, at the end of April and again in January 2027. Unions state that government decisions are impoverishing workers and will not recognize any strike ban, warning of acts of “civil disobedience”. Simultaneously, the teachers' union is reacting to a “language proficiency certificate” required for the enrollment of foreign children in schools, considering it illegal and contrary to the constitutional right to education for all children.
