Occupation and Trade Deficit

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, the trade deficit between Turkey and the occupied territories is very large. For every $1 of goods sold from the occupied territories to Turkey, $26 worth of goods are imported from Turkey to the occupied area. In 2025, the trade deficit reached $2.515 billion. The “exports” of the occupied territories to Turkey amounted to $116.363 million, while Turkey’s “exports” to the occupied territories amounted to $2.631 billion. This difference indicates the unequal trade relationship between the two areas and the significant economic dependence of the occupied territories on Turkey.
