New Yellow Warning for Storms - When it Comes into Effect

The Department of Meteorology has issued a new Yellow Warning for rain and thunderstorms that will affect Cyprus. The warning will be in effect from 10 pm tonight until 5 pm tomorrow, Saturday. A combination of rain and isolated thunderstorms is expected, which will affect the island intermittently, starting from the west and extending to the other areas. In the event of a thunderstorm, there is a possibility of hail and strengthening of the winds. The intensity of the rain may reach locally 35-55 millimeters per hour. The weather forecast predicts weak low pressure in the area and dust in the atmosphere, with the possibility of increased concentrations. Tonight, the weather will gradually deteriorate with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, while tomorrow is expected to be mostly cloudy with local rain and thunderstorms. Improvement is expected from the afternoon. The temperature will drop to 9 degrees inland, around 12 on the coast and around 4 in the mountains, where frost is likely to form.
